Trance
Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that developed in the 1990s in Germany. It is characterized by a tempo of between 110 and 150 beats per minute, repeating melodic phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track. Trance is its own genre, but also will include other styles of electronic music such as techno, house, pop, chill-out, classical music,:16 and film music.
One characteristic of trance is its use of aural dynamics. For example, in most classic trance, a primary characteristic was a soft mid-song breakdown, beginning with and occurring after the orchestration is broken down and the rhythm tracks fade out rapidly, leaving the melody, atmospherics, or both to stand alone for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Another common characteristic would be the use of vocals often sung by a female who ranges from mezzo-soprano to soprano. Less often, the female vocals may be in a grand, soaring, or operatic style, which has been described as "ethereal female leads floating amongst the synths".

Trance Energy
Energy (formerly known as Trance Energy) is a Dutch trance event featuring Electronic Trance Music DJs from around the world. It is organized by ID&T and has been held from 1999 to the present day in various venues in the Netherlands twice a year. Traditionally, there was a "small" edition and a big edition each year. In 2002, the small edition failed to sell out its 20,000-person ticket capacity (only 15,000 tickets were sold) and thereafter, Trance Energy was only held once annually, at the Jaarbeurs convention center in Utrecht,Netherlands, where it has been sold out each year up to 2009. In 2011 Trance Energy became more of a house event than a trance event.
In 2011 ID&T changed the concept and renamed the festival to "Energy the network", opening the festival to other genres from Trance only. The change was announced in September 2010, and labelled as a simple "name change".
While audience in the first years was mostly Dujninitch, there are now many international visitors, mainly from the European Union but sometimes from other areas around the world. This is due to the festival earning worldwide fame thanks to bootlegs of DJ mixes and some official videos of former editions. At the 2010 edition, it has been quoted by ID&T that more than 40% of the audience was not Dutch.

Dance Valley
Dance Valley ("The Woodstock of Dance") is an annual dance music festival held in the summer in Spaarnwoude,Netherlands. The first edition was in 1995 when 8,000 people attended (and in 2000 90,000 visitors). Dance Valley grew rapidly, both in duration and number of visitors. 2005 was the first time the event lasted 3 days in the weekend with camping available for the concertgoers at the campsite. It rained. A record-breaking 53,000 people attended that year.
There were some big changes to the festival in 2006. Traditionally held on the first weekend of August, due to colliding with another festival UDC (the Dance Valley management company) brought the festival forward two weeks to 14-16 July. While this had little effect in terms of sales it did affect the last two hours of the festival when sunlight was still visible on the horizon. This in turn affected the use of lighting with the lasers not being switched on until later. Dance Valley also hostedBMX, skate boarding and motorcycle competitions sponsored by LG. The back field in which HQ resided was not used; instead a large tent towards the entrance was specially erected for the harder side of dance.
